Description

Description: This assay employs a two-site sandwich ELISA to quantitate ZFP91 in samples. An antibody specific for ZFP91 has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and any ZFP91 present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing any unbound substances, a biotin-conjugated antibody specific for ZFP91 is added to the wells. After washing, Streptavidin conjugated Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound avidin-enzyme reagent, a substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of ZFP91 bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.
Overview: ZFP91 is a member of the zinc finger family of proteins. The gene product contains C2H2-type domains, which are the classical zinc finger domains found in numerous nucleic acid-binding proteins. This protein functions as a regulator of the non-canonical NF-kappaB pathway in lymphotoxin-beta receptor signaling. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. A read-through transcript variant composed of ZFP91 and the downstream CNTF gene sequence has been identified, but it is thought to be non-coding. Read-through transcription of ZFP91 and CNTF has also been observed in mouse. A ZFP91-related pseudogene has also been identified on chromosome 2. ZFP91 is likely to play an important role in cell proliferation and/or anti-apoptosis, and may serve as a molecular marker for AML
